FAQ
What is a deposit?
A deposit will be exchanged between Retournzy and the food service as well as between the drop-off point and its customer. The deposit thus acts as an incentive to return the container.
We’ve decided to launch our project without a mobile app for the restaurant owner or customer, as we want to have a system that’s accessible to everyone and low tech, which is why we’re using the deposit!
The deposit is $9 for all container and lid formats.
How much time do I have to return my container? Can I keep it ?
As soon as possible! And if you’ve just realized that you’ve forgotten, and it’s been 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months or 3 years since you’ve had our container at home, we invite you to return it to a Retournzy drop-off point as soon as possible to recover your deposit and so that it can be reused!
Containers are a resource shared between different users, as we operate as a functionality (or sharing) economy. Retournzy will only work if everyone plays along. In fact, it’s like when you go to the library, if you don’t bring your book back, it’ll penalize the person who wants to read it next… Same thing if you don’t return the Communauto car so that the next user can enjoy it.
That’s why it’s better not to keep a container at home 🙂
Can I put the container in a microwave or in an oven ?
If you value your microwave, we strongly advise you not to heat the contents of your container in it! Fireworks are more beautiful in the sky than in your kitchen 🙂 Our containers are designed to keep your meal warm, but if you want to reheat it, you can put it in the oven or pour the contents onto a plate, which will go into your microwave.
The container is therefore oven-safe, but don’t forget to remove the lid before putting your meal in the oven, to ensure it lasts longer.
How do you ensure that containers are clean before they are reused?
Container washing operations will be carried out in accordance with the rules set out by MAPAQ and specified in the cleaning and sanitation guide. For more information : click here (french).
Rapid tests for pathogens to ensure washing quality will be carried out at regular intervals, and the results recorded in a register, in order to ensure the highest quality for our users, although these tests are in no way a MAPAQ requirement (fact validated with MAPAQ).
Watertight crates of clean and dirty containers will be stored separately (pending washing or delivery) at the washing site. They too will undergo rigorous washing between each use.
What material are the containers made of?
It’s not up to us, but to the restaurant, caterer or business you order your meal from. Among our partners, Kale Fait Maison offers you delicious meals in our containers, delivered to your door by bike!
Can I get my meal delivered in Retournzy reusable containers?
It’s not preferable. The containers are a shared resource between the restaurateurs in his network. Each has invested a little of its own money to acquire them through the Retournzy cooperative, to whom the containers belong throughout their life.
Since we’re operating in a functionality (or sharing) economy, Retournzy will only work if everyone plays along. Besides, it’s like when you go to the library, if you don’t bring your book back, it will penalize the person who wants to read it next… It’s the same if you don’t return the Communauto car so that the next user can enjoy it. In short, although we won’t call the police if you decide to ignore this advice and keep the container at home, we hope you’ve understood the principle and will return your container 😉
