FAQ
What material are the containers made of?
Containers are made of food grade stainless steel. The lid is also made of food grade silicone. They are durable and healthy. These materials do not release toxic products – as opposed to some plastics – when in contact with heat. A chemical migration test is performed in laboratory when we receive containers order to confirm these aspects. Moreover, they are resistant to the multiple washings they will undergo in their useful life!
Do you have an app?
We’ve decided to launch our project without a mobile app for the restaurant owner or customer, as we want to have a system that’s accessible to everyone and low tech, which is why we’re using the deposit!
A deposit will be exchanged between Retournzy and the food service as well as between the drop-off point and its customer. The deposit thus acts as an incentive to return the container.
The deposit is $9 for all container and lid formats.
Does the deposit have an impact on sales?
No, the $9 non-taxable deposit is not a sale but a cash deposit. The deposit should not affect any income statement account.
Here are the 2 steps you need to take to make it easier :
Reading your sales reports. Create a “Deposit” button on your cash register system. This will enable you to easily separate the amounts received from deposits and meal sales,
Quarterly and annual bookkeeping and accounting: Ask your accountant to create a Balance Sheet account (current assets) to record the deposit amounts paid by the restaurant to Retournzy and the deposit amounts received by your customers. This way, these amounts will not affect the income statement.
How do you deliver the items?
All our deliveries are made carbon-neutrally, by cargo bike. No need to add more trucks on the road, don’t you think? 🙂
How do you ensure that containers are clean before they are reused?
Container washing operations will be carried out in accordance with the rules set out by MAPAQ and specified in the cleaning and sanitation guide.
Rapid tests for pathogens to ensure washing quality will be carried out at regular intervals, and the results recorded in a register, in order to ensure the highest quality for our users, although these tests are in no way a MAPAQ requirement (fact validated with MAPAQ).
Watertight crates of clean and dirty containers will be stored separately (pending washing or delivery) at the washing site. They too will undergo rigorous washing between each use.
Is the container microwave- and oven-safe?
Our containers are not microwave-safe, but they are designed to keep meals warm. If the customer wishes to reheat it, they can either put it in the oven or pour the contents onto a plate, which is microwave-safe.
The container is oven-safe, but it’s best to remove the lid for a longer life.
